Yesterday was the first day of Emmy School 2012! And just like the skanky new queen beyotches bursting through those harrowed high school double doors, you might be mighty pressed that mean queens Girls, New Girl, House of Lies, and Veep were just a few of the shows that made it hard for Glee to get by. Where the song-and-dance saga's recognition by the television academy has dwindled by the year, this is the first to see zero nominations in any of the Lead and Supporting Actor, Comedy categories (while Dot-Marie Jones swung a nod in the Guest Actress competition). But uh, in act of grace (or saving shade), the show's creator and star are inexplicably not bothered by that.
But Lea Michele doesn't seem to mind getting shut out, telling E! she thinks "there are so many incredible shows out right now," so it's ostensibly fine that her show, which she later says produced "one of [its] best seasons ever" this year, was ignored. Meanwhile, Ryan Murphy tells Vulture that everyone else in the comedy bunch is worthy: "I don’t think you could argue against any of them," he admits. Both of them really seem to like Girls, however, and whether they genuinely mean that or they just really want to be on mean Girls' good side so that mean Girls doesn't socially ruin them by spreading the evil lie that Glee caught an STD while giving a blowie to a freshman in the back of chem class is up to you to decide.
