Listen Up: Danny Brown Drops Studio Version Of "Kush Coma" With A$AP Rocky And Zelooperz
Well, we heard the A$AP Rocky-included version of Danny Brown's latest Old preview "Kush Coma" a second ago via Tim Westwood, and to finally stamp things down, snaggle tooth decided to go ahead and share the final "official" studio version of the Rocky and Zelooperz-featured record.
Danny's kept himself present throughout most of the year following up the acclaim XXX received last year, and with the appearance of early version of "Kush Coma" surfacing not too long ago, his upcoming TBA album Old has quickly become one of the most anticipated projects of the summer. We'll see where things go, but from what we're catching here, there's little reason to believe that Danny won't one-up himself with this next piece of work.
Anyway, here's "Kush Coma"; give it a listen, throw up your thoughts, and look out for more news on Old (obviou...
UPDATE: so, to follow-up his "Paper Birds" release with Kendrick Lamar yesterday, Meek DeMeo decided to hit us again with a new set of sounds, this one being an equally haunting funeral epic titled "Near Death."
Here's the track. Hit it up, and check out Meek's previous releases below.
Meek DeMeo caught my attention a while back when he dropped an Ab-Soul featured remix of his track "Hallucinogen," and to show that his TDE affiliation and breakout wasn't a simple stand alone spark, he's back with some new sounds, this time featuring Kendrick Lamar, which should speak pretty well on the kind of interest he's getting from the scene.
As we saw with "Hallucinogen," t...
My partner in crime JT Langleyhas been pretty impressed with the snippets of Rick Ross' new album God Forgives, I Don't (out July 31) we've heard thus far (see below), and despite my relative ignorance concerning all hip-hop not featuring Questlove behind the drum kit, I can't help but agree. The album doesn't officially drop for another week and some change, but lead single "3 Kings" featuring (seriously) both Jay-Z and Dr. Dre behind the boards popped up online late last night and, you guessed it, it's a keeper.
You'll have to ask JT about it when he gets back from vacation, but to my ears, it sounds like Dre lends an impressive amount of creative weight behind the standard "soul sample plus beat" production while Ross more or less steals the show ("I only love it when her hair long / You should listen to this beat through my headphones") away from Jay, who can't resist mentioning his daughter in, like, every other line. Seriously, dude, we get it. Throw in a few more "uhh"s.
