Anyone with a remote knowledge of music has their earphones plugged in for the next week with Nas’ fresh release Life Is Good on repeat. The 20-year vet made an appearance on The Colbert Report yesterday to discuss the album and perform his single “The Don.” Being the fan I am of both, I took a 5-minute break from Life Is Good for the caricature political pundit and his guest willing to roll with the punch lines.

Stephen Colbert and Nas may not seem like the most cohesive interview, a stern rap-genius questioned by a satirical mastermind, but the short meeting gave new insight and a few chuckles about the album (how can Colbert not bring up Kelis and her milkshake?) They discussed what really makes the performer's life “good,” and the possibility of his retirement in the future. “You don’t want to be 75 and rapping about how hard the pudding skin is at the home” – touche’ Colbert, touche’.
Nas’ performance of ”The Don” sounds fantastic as expected, and is just another reminder of why I need to see him live (a girl can dream). Do yourself a favor and catch the interview and performance videos. Get some Nas integrated into your day like the rest of us.
