Old habits die hard, so when the "maddening crowd" gets a little too… you know, maddening… Madonna always has her favorite pastimes to fall back on. Namely looking preposterously hot, riding around in expensive cars, lip-synching and throwing SFW near-orgies you kind of wish you were somewhere in the middle of.
In the new music video for her Martin Solveig-produced MDNA single "Turn Up The Radio," Madonna and her trusty chauffeur get a little La Dolce Vita with a motley crew of Italians who, naturally, are totally willing to hop in a convertible with Madonna. Wouldn't you? Don't ask me to explain why one throng of onlookers is preferable to another, just check out the video below.
Heavy sigh. Remember a time when pop videos didn't have to shimmer and sparkle, when you didn't need choreographed dance routines or outlandish costumes? Remember when cars and cleavage was enough? Madonna clearly does. There's a lot of her early '90s video sensibility in the mix here (think "Take A Bow" with a little less bullfighting), which lends a welcome amount of warmth to the, let's face it, mostly sterile, processed-within-an-inch-of-its-life song it portends to feature.
Madonna, feel free to make music videos like this on a more regular basis. Also, feel free to take a joyride through my neighborhood any time you like. I usually get off work around 6, so, you know, let me know which street corner I should be hanging around and I'll be there like Cher.
