With a purportedly "back to basics" new Green Day album and No Doubt's first new album in more than a decade scheduled to drop, it's looking like September 25 just might be the most '90s day we've had since… well, the nineties. The official Sophie Muller-directed video for the latter band's new single "Settle Down" (our first real taste of what to expect on Push And Shove, their preposterously long-overdue follow-up to 2001's Rock Steady) goes live at 8:00 p.m. EST, but in the meantime, we've got an early radio edit leak ready for fanatical scrutinizing.

Give "Settle Down" a first listen right here. Don't worry, I've personally double checked with the local health board and they've assured me that simply visiting Ryan Seacrest's official website will not, in fact, give you cooties or any other highly contagious diseases. (I wouldn't recommend making a habit out of it, though, just in case.)
First thoughts?
"On air with Ryan Seacrest! World premiere!" Yeah, we get it, thanks. Was hoping to maybe hear one of those promised horn arrangements, but no worries—"Settle Down" is a classically No Doubt bit of breezy ska-pop business with just enough modern sheen to take things forward a few notches. The mildly buzzy chorus gives plenty of Tragic Kingdom shivers, while the stuttered hook harkens back ("harkens back," yes… it's seriously been that long since the last No Doubt record) to the dub flavors of Rock Steady. "I'm trying to get a hold on this," Gwen Stefani sings at one point. Doesn't sound like "this" has ever gotten out of control—"Settle Down" is another great single from a band who've made their fair share in the (not so recent) past.
