Well this is a weird one, and a story that is probably a lot sadder than most of the WTF internet crowd is giving it credit for.
A woman in Jackson, Mich. has been keeping the corpse of a dead friend around her house for the past 18 months, watching NASCAR with him (it?), and cashing his social security checks.
Charles Zigler died someone near Christmas 2010, 72-year-old Linda Chase admitted to Police, but she kept the body around her house, and often talked to it. She cleaned the body, she said, to keep it from stinking.
"It's not that I'm heartless. It's just that after so many bad things happen to you, I don't know," Chase told the Jackson Citizen-Patriot, reportedly wiping away tears. "I didn't want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me."
Zigler was 67 or 68 when he died. He was estranged from his children who, after 18 months had passed, finally got worried and tried to track him down.

Zigler's son Wally tried to go to Chase's house to visit his father.
"She wouldn’t let me see him," he said.
Zigler had been in poor health, needing oxygen to breathe.
"That wasn’t right to leave him lay like that," Wally said.
Chase knows she's in hot water now that her corpse-hiding ways have been found out.
"I'm probably going to prison," she said. She struggles to explain what she did:
"I know this is horrible, but after awhile, you get," Chase said, halting with tears. "I don't know what you call it, I don't know."
Welp, I sure as hell don't know either. This seemed so much more romantic in Faulkner's "A Rose For Emily."
