What comes to mind when you think of Fleetwood Mac? My favorite badass, Stevie Nicks? The band’s historic inner turmoil, fit for a reality TV show? How about our own sorry renditions of “Landslide” when we’re driving alone?Well folks, put those thoughts aside because it’s time to think about how we will get tickets for their newly announced tour coming in 2013.
Yesterday, Stevie Nicks announced on CBS This Morning that the band plans to reunite and tour next year. (Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have been off doing solo projects since the early 1980s, which Mick Fleetwood has cited as the main reason a reunion tour has been postponed up until now.)
Nicks also addressed Bob Welch's suicide (see above) during the interview. Within the past year, the band has lost several members including guitarists Bob Brunning and Bob Weston; is it possible the turn of unfortunate events was the catalyst for the band needed to reunite while they still can? Maybe, but Nicks makes it seem like the timing is finally right as she and Buckingham are wrapping up their own projects and tours. You can catch the video of Nick’s interview below.
There is no sign or mention of the gang creating new music, but I really wouldn’t mind seeing Fleetwood Mac perform the classics that made them eternal superstars. The details are vague for this gathering, but what we do know is I will have Rumours on loop until I can see them next year and practicing my own version of “Landslide” while driving in solitude.
What do you think is bringing Fleetwood Mac back together? Will you be there with me at their concerts in 2013? Let me know in the comments below!
