Nancy Pelosi said what we were all thinking (and writing and tweeting) about Romney's NAACP appearance yesterday: that it was all an optical illusion for Romney's almost entirely white and eternally aggrieved base:
Catch that? "I think it was a calculated move on his part to get booed at the NAACP convention." There's some meter and prosody in there! She even catches the bounce of the sentence. Same thing, broken into verse:
I think it was a calculated move
on his part to get booed
at the NAACP convention
Not bad, for a politician rhyming off the cuff. I want to play!
To get the working class
To kiss his rich ass
Was absolutely his intention
He hopes they won't notice
Until he is POTUS
That the economy is just a bourgeoise invention
If you think Romney gives
1/250 millionth of a shit
About black people, you ain't paying attention
His only chance to win
Is to cross his fingers and spin
Economic angst into racial tension
Which is why it was a calculated move
on his part to get booed
at the NAACP convention.
More poems as events warrant.
