This video is a couple days old, but we're just coming across it now because it's July 10 and we've begun scouring the internet for videos that show up under the search phrase "little girl crying." We joke, of course, most of the time. Anywho, the Phoenix Suns finally granted Steve Nash's wish to play for a contender when they traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers. Most grownups, including Suns fans, recognized the logic in this move and were/are happy for Nash.
Four-year-olds are a different story altogether. They have yet to experience all the horrors of the world, the disappointments, the failures, the loneliness, the lost love, the death, the poverty, the war, the hunger, the Brussel sprouts, etc. The 4-year-old you see below has all her hopes and dreams wrapped up in one point guard she's probably never met: Steve Nash. News of his trade to Los Angeles shattered her.
We'll all laugh and say, "Awwwww" when we watch this girl break down in tears and swear never to root for Nash again. But remember, her hopes and dreams are worth no less than our own, and her pain is very real. She has begun the slow slide to soullessness, one that captures us all eventually.
