Taking a little break from his new day job (i.e. providing music for all of David Fincher's films, dinner dates, walks in the parks, bowel movements, etc.), Trent Reznor is brining his Oscar-winning film scoring sensibilities to the world of bro-friendly video games this fall.

USA Today reports that the Nine Inch Nails/How To Destroy Angels auteur has been hired to compose the theme music for upcoming shooter Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, out November 13. Expect a return to Reznor's old-school industrial hard rock sound; as Reznor explains, "There is a lot of reservation and angst and sense of loss and regret and anger bubbling under the surface. So it didn’t make sense to have a gung ho patriotic feeling kind of theme song. It has to feel weighty."
So at long last, there's a piece of Reznor music I will never, ever hear. Sigh. Awesome.
In more exciting news, frankly, Trent also let slip (see what I did there?) that the How To Destroy Angels album is finished and should be out soon ("There’s a lot of music about to be unleashed, videos, etcetera") and, gasp, he's starting preliminary work on the next Nine Inch Nails album. “Right now, it’s in its gestation period," Reznor promises.
It's going to be an exciting year for Trent Reznor fans… and, I guess, to a lesser extent, Xbox 360 owners. Everybody goes home happy.
