“That is a hard question. There are so many great movies. I would say Silence of the Lambs. Dr. Hanibal Lecter is one of the scariest thriller characters. A great performance by both Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins.”

“Is this even a fair question? Favorite psychological thrillers? There are so many! but I suppose if I had to narrow it down to three they'd be Identity, The Sixth Sense (Kind of cliché?), and Shutter Island. Identity is my absolute favorite because of how the movie is split between two realities that you think at first are directly related to each other somehow, until you find out that one isn't a reality at all. I just think that movie makes psychological thrillers because you actually were inside this tortured and murderous man's head; watching how he has coped with his life and redirected all the traumatic events that happened to him into these people that seem so real. I was blown away by that movie and it's ending is one that has you slumped in your seat thinking about the things our minds are capable of. Also, the book was brilliant as well. Do I even really have to explain why I love The Sixth Sense? He was dead the whole time! Shutter Island was beautiful. Leo won an oscar in my heart for that movie. I was so convince by his character's genuine fear and confusion that I almost wanted to believe that it was all some kind of hoax to make him feel crazy. But what really got me was that last line "Which would be worse? To live as a monster, or die as a good man?" Says it all... I was speechless. Maybe any psychological thriller with Leo in it is one I also love? And for the record I also love, Fight Club, The Matrix, Donnie Darko,The Butterfly Effect and all those other classics. JS”

“My favorite is the classic Hitchcock, Psycho. I know it may be passé to choose this one, but even after the shower scene, the build up to the climax of the movie is one of the most tense, most "make you wonder" set of scenes in any movie I have seen since. I always compare all psychological thrillers and dramas to this movie and to how it made me feel when I watched it.”

Channing Tatum and a psychological thriller--what else could you possibly ask for? Side Effects, the film starring Tatum, Rooney Mara, and Jude Law, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, comes out on Blu-ray and DVD May 21, and we've got 3 DVD copies to give out!
For those who haven't seen, Side Effects tells the story of Emily Taylor (Mara) undergoes bizarre side effects after her psychiatrist (Law) prescribes her a certain drug. But--as any other thriller--there are way more shockers and twists. (Especially one scene that will make you absolutely gasp.) The story line isn't necessarily what you think, and will have you talking long after the credits roll.
So, what are your favorite psychological thrillers? All you have to do to win a copy is to comment below one of your favorite thrillers...
Darren Aronofsky's next project is an adaptation of the story of Noah, currently shooting in Iceland with Russell Crowe playing the man with the ark. Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, and Ray Winstone have already been credited as parts of the cast, but today a tweet from Aronofsky indicated that Anthony Hopkins is on board as well. It looks like he will be playing Methuselah, the grandfather of Noah. The Hebrew Bible states that Methuselah was the oldest man to have ever lived, dying at the age of 969 a week prior to the Great Flood scheduled by God himself.
First of all this sounds like a perfect epic role into which Hopkins can sink his intense, somewhat terrifying teeth. Overall, Noah is a project that I can't seem to understand, only because Aronofsky has never tried to tackle something so grandiose, mostly living in the realm of psychological mind-benders. Knowing that though, I hope this turns into a unique, disturbing take on the well-known tale. Maybe Noah will throw a phone at one of the animals onboard the ark.
In weird news, Michael Fassbender apparently likes video games, particularly Assassin's Creed. He likes it enough that he is not only going to star in a film adaptation of it, but he's also on board to produce. Ordinarily, Fassbender's name is a harbinger of success, especially in his work with Steve McQueen. But video game movie adaptations are notoriously terrible and UbiSoft's (the game publisher of Assassin's Creed) last crack at movies, Prince of Persia, was a drastic failure. Assassin's Creed, which features a rich storyline of time travel and you know assassinations, is one of the most well-received and loved games of recent years though. I suppose this is better news than hearing that Sylvester Stallone was taking the helm of this project.
And now for something completely different, Philip Seymour Hoffman has been officially confirmed for the role of Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. This news comes right after Jena Malone snagged the role of Johanna Mason, the District 17 Hunger Games champion. Heavensbee runs the 75th Hunger Games, to which Katniss must return as a victor the previous year. I haven't touched a book by Suzanne Collins as of yet, so all of this amounts to a lot of mumbo jumbo to me. But hey, anything with Hoffman is great. After this, the next major role to be cast in Catching Fire is Finnick Odair, another former Hunger Games winner.
