The Mountain Goats (i.e. John Darnielle and the ever-changing lineup that surrounds him) are dropping their 14th album on October 2. We've already been given some treats for the upcoming CD titled Transcendental Youth, including the album's artwork, shown above. What's even better is the promise of a full horn section throughout the record that will add a big full sound to compliment Darnielle's lyrics that bring surrealism and reality together.

Transcendental Youth is described by Darnielle as his "Satan record," which sounds pretty serious, but he goes on to tell Rolling Stone that the album deals with religious and social outcasts, that's all. I can totally handle that type of "Satan record." In fact, I'll probably love it. Check out the Transcendental Youth tracklist below:
"Amy AKA Spent Gladiator 1"
"Lakeside View Apartments Suite"
"Cry For Judas"
"Harlem Roulette"
"White Cedar"
"Until I Am Whole"
"Night Light"
"The Diaz Brothers"
"Counterfeit Florida Plates"
"In Memory of Satan"
"Spent Gladiator 2"
"Transcendental Youth”"
