When Jesus does come back, don't you think he'll probably show up in Texas? Just seems to make intuitive sense.
A spectacular lightning strike, followed by a tremendous clap of thunder in Texas on Sunday had the Rangers and Twins scurrying off the field, and had Twins centerfielder Denard Span thinking about the Second Coming (video below).
"That's the loudest noise I've ever heard. I thought Jesus was comin!," Span "tweeted" during the ensuing delay.
Fellow Twins outfielder Ben Revere was also scared shitless, but didn't profess to having thoughts of the rapture, even though his Twitter bio says "God is always first in my life I love him always."
"My heart stopped when I heard the thunder at the stadium," Revere "tweeted." "Glad no heard me scream like a little girl too!!! Lol"
Check out the video. I suggest watching it a couple of times: once with the volume up, to appreciate the loudness of the lightning and thunder, and then again with the volume muted, to get a good laugh at grown ballplayers instantly running for their lives for no apparent reason.
Take special note of the Twins' Josh Willingham, who is on first base at the time and is so frightened he drops to his hands and knees.
After a 46-minute delay, the Rangers went on to win the game 4-3 in 13 innings.
