On the surface it would be easy to look at the ad that appeared below an article on Joe Paterno and say, "Hey, now that's just poor judgment by somebody." The ad is for a company called Safe Showers, a decent, plausible name because one would presume that nobody likes dangerous showers.
But consider the context. Joe Paterno is the late football coach of Penn State, where he was the boss of convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky and possibly helped cover up Sandusky's crimes, some of which occured in showers. In fact, former assistant coach Mike McQueary gave gruesome testimony on witnessing Sandusky possibly raping a young boy in Penn State showers. So... probably not the best ad.
Or IS IT? If anyone would want safe showers, it would be someone concerned by the scandal at Penn State. Why not capitalize on a little bit of fear? You may accuse us of being glib, but pederasty is no laughing matter, and if I lived in Texas, I would dial them up to ask HOW safe their showers are.
I'd probably also ask who handles their advertising.
