So, um, remember when Radiohead opened "Supercollider" at Bonnaroo by declaring, "This song is for Jack White. We saw him yesterday. A big thank-you to him, but we can't tell you why. You'll find out"? (See below) Well, I hope you didn't get your hopes all up… like I did. We've got a confirmation straight from the ex-White Stripe horse's mouth what that purported collaboration actually entailed and, well, it's nowhere near as exciting as we'd dreamed.

In a new interview with BBC 6 Music, Jack White confirmed that Radiohead had indeed worked on new material at his Third Man Records studio in Nashville during breaks in their North American tour, but insisted he wasn't himself involved in the sessions. Because, you know, when Radiohead comes by to record and you've already got plans, it's not like you can just reschedule and do it later, it's only Radio-effing-head, right?
"I don’t know how much to tell about it except I didn't play with them or produce," says a frustratingly evasive White, adding: "They came in and recorded at Third Man. I don't know what else to be said about that, so that’s all I can probably say."
So there you have it—the most frustrating pseudo-announcement in joint Jack White-Radiohead history. This is kind of one of those times where you almost wish all parties concerned would've kept their mouths shut. There's no way anything Radiohead might have recorded at Third Man will ever live up to the mental image of Thom Yorke and Jack White even standing in the same room together. Hey, maybe Radiohead will release their very own Blue Series single? Just like Insane Clown Posse and John C. Reilly! See what I mean? What a letdown.
