Here's 10 Fun Things You Can Do With The Smashing Pumpkins 'Pisces Iscariot' Reissue

The Smashing Pumpkins

I don't know about you guys, but I've been so wrapped up with The Smashing Pumpkins' new album Oceania (our review) that I almost forgot: "Oh yeah, they're also re-issuing all the old albums in really handsome new boxed set packages complete with new and updated artwork, unreleased songs, DVDs, postcards and other goodies." The Gish and Siamese Dream reissues dropped last fall (see below), and on July 17, Billy Corgan will continue to stoke the fires of Smashing Pumpkins nostalgia with the deluxe reissue of b-sides compilation Pisces Iscariot.

| Related… Review: Smashing Pumpkins – 'Gish,' 'Siamese Dream' Deluxe Edition Reissues |

The deluxe physical edition (seen above) comes with a remastered copy of the original album (duh), 17 unreleased/alternate version tracks, a live concert DVD, the very first Smashing Pumpkins demo recreated on cassette tape (seriously), postcards, new and updated artwork and photos and, of course, liner notes by David Wild complete with track-by-track notes by Billy Corgan himself.

You can pre-order a copy now… and hey, while you're waiting for your credit card to clear, here are a few fun and creative activity ideas you and your Pisces Iscariot deluxe edition can do together next month!

- Watch some of your favorite Criterion Collection DVDs and then discuss your thoughts on French New Wave and post-Empire filmmaking at a local coffee shop. (You buy the espresso… it can choose the scones.)

- While listening to "Blew Away," the two of you can make James Iha sock puppets out of old gym socks, complete with little button eyes, black yarn hair and a little Gibson Les Paul made out of pipe cleaners.

- Play your very own game of Billy Corgan Liner Notes Mad-Libs. Here's one to get you started: "During the making of [1993 Smashing Pumpkins album], I had terrible [non-medical condition that might hinder the writing of songs] and couldn't come up with any [noun]."

- Use some of the creepy Victorian children photographs to make your very own message in a bottle! Throw it out to sea, go home and then imagine some marooned sailor opening it up, dumping out the contents and being really, really disturbed and confused by what he found inside.

- Start a scrap-booking club together! For yours, collect old family photos, favorite newspaper clippings, letters to friends, quotes and fond remembrances. For Pisces Iscariot's, glue the Gish and Siamese Dream album covers onto a piece of construction paper.

- Take the demo cassette to the only remaining tape deck on the planet—the one at your grandma's house. Patiently explain to her why "Whir" would never have worked on Siamese Dream and how "Starla" is kind of the greatest thing ever. Expect to repeat each sentence twice, slightly louder the second time.

- Recreate the Pisces Iscariot album cover by snatching iPhones away from unsuspecting subway riders and smushing the camera up into your face. Return the phone and ask its owner to e-mail you the thoroughly Instagrammed results.

- Make your Pisces Iscariot extremely jealous by wistfully wondering aloud which unreleased songs might be included in the sprawling Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness deluxe edition. Once it is thoroughly fuming, give it a loving kiss on the bar code and enjoy the best makeup sex you've ever had.

- Go to the local costume shop and purchase two pale blonde wigs. Have a playful contest to see which one of you can pull off the better D'Arcy impression. The loser… I mean, the winner… has to come up with a new and creative way to get arrested. The loser has to stay at home and dog-sit.

- Leave your old, skinnier copy of Pisces Iscariot lying around to guilt trip the deluxe edition into eating better, exercising and (hopefully) losing a little bit of weight.

What do you guys plan on doing with your Pisces Iscariot deluxe edition reissue? Let us know in the comments section below.
