Clearly vermillion is the color of the year. Here’s your awesome first look at J.K. Rowling’s next book Casual Vacancy. This is a big deal people, start drooling now.
The book is Rowling’s first venture into the “adult” territory. And no, not the Fifty Shades of Grey kind of adult. Casual Vacancy tells the story of the drama behind the English village of Pagford, focused around the unexpected and shocking death of parish council member Barry Fairweather. It sounds pretty sweet, Publisher Little, Brown and Company refer to it as “blackly comic.”
But that’s not the only thing cool about the book. I’m completely and utterly in love with the cover, mostly because it looks like part of the fall line from Madewell. Or a book that a Wes Anderson character would be reading. It’s totally hipster’d out and I love it. The type set is relaxed, yet classic. The yellow border slightly unsteady. The X is ominous and sexual. It’s really got everything you want in a book you’ll be seeing everyone read on the subway.
September 27th, you guys. And no doubt the film will come next year or something, Hollywood movies fast when it comes to Rowling.
