Okay, so a quick Eminem update. As you might have heard (see below), Marshall has put his long-overdue acting follow-up to 8 Mile on hold to work on his next studio album, his first since 2010's Recovery and eighth to date. I wouldn't start holding my breath for a release date or even any real concrete details just yet, but Em did drop a little update on his progress during a radio call-in interview with DJ Whoo Kid this past weekend.
"I'm not that far along in the process as far as like figuring out," said Em. "Of course Dr Dre will be involved. I don't have anything with him yet. What I usually do is I’ll get going you know and kind of start going in a certain direction or whatever, and just record what I'm feeling or whatever. I get a few songs, and then I get kind of a direction, and then I'll go see Dre and fill in some of those pieces."
He added:
"You know, Dre will listen and I'll see what he thinks I'm missing or you know I might come to him and say 'I think I'm missing this kind of record' or 'what if I went in this direction' or whatever."
And that's all the Detroit rapper wrote. Hmm. Again, feel free to speculate as to where Eminem will take things on his follow-up to Recovery and Hell: The Sequel (away from the Rihanna collaborations and pop-crossovers, ideally) in our comments section below. Let's get a conversation going.
