When I trudged into the Ology offices this morning, I was greeted by Celebs Editor Stephanie Webber, who shrilly implored me to write about the biggest deal of the NBA offseason: Lamar Odom's return to the Los Angeles Clippers.
I refused on several grounds, most notably that a four-team trade involving Odom, Mo Williams and a couple second-round draft picks is not big news. Also, I don't take no orders from no woman, by the way. But I decided to write about it anyway because it's hilarious to me that our Celebs Editor keeps abreast of the NBA offseason for the sole purpose of tracking the Kardashians' movements.
The Kardashian in question is Khloe, Lamar Odom's spouse and (probably) the reason Lamar crashed and burned in Dallas after the Lakers traded him this year. Kardashians can't survive in the wild, and Dallas is to Los Angeles what rural China is to the San Diego Zoo. Kardashians, paradoxically, can breed ONLY in captivity, and it's a well-known fact that Lamar's basketball abilities reach their peak in Los Angeles exclusively.
So the Clippers get Odom, who could be an important part of the rotation next season, the Jazz get Mo Williams, who will continue reminding the world how awful LeBron James' teammates in Cleveland were, and the Houston Rockets get another worthless trade under their belts.
Most important, Stephanie Webber gets to watch Khloe Kardashian in her natural habitat once again.
