It was pretty painful for me to get through just one episode of Fashion Star, especially when most of H&M's fast-fashion designs are the trickle down leftovers of what we see on the runway (and neither Nicole Richie nor Jessica Simpson have shown at a prestigious Fashion Week), so I'm not exactly distraught to hear that both Elle Macpherson and H&M have both opted not to return for a second season.
Elle, who will has decided to stay on as an executive producer, will no longer host the show.
“I have been involved with Fashion Star from the beginning, and am very proud to see it come to life, not only in America but globally,” said the model in a statement. “The show is in great hands, and although I will not be hosting this season, I will still be very involved as executive producer where we will be reviewing the format for the upcoming season. Moving forward, I’ll be focusing on building theFashion Star brand in the international market and pursuing various other producing projects close to my heart.”

Fast-fashion chain H&M joined Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue as buyers and distributors of the weekly winner's designs, but the Swedish chain has also opted to depart.
"H&M is continuously looking for new and unique collaborations and we were thrilled to have partnered with NBC for the first season of Fashion Star. We have decided not to participate in the second season. It was exciting to work with all of the talented people involved including the designers whose winning clothes sold out weekly. We wish Fashion Star success and will be sure to tune in for season two."
Beyond the fact that I was having a "whatever happened to designers, you know, working hard and getting their lines picked up the traditional way?" phase when the show debuted, it was pretty insufferable in all its enormity. For the love of god, I hope Zara stays far, far away from this show.
Did you ever watch Fashion Star? Was it as bad for you as it was for me?
