No judgments or thoughts, really, but yes, Cat Power's Chan Marshall did post a truly bizarre rant on the official Cat Power Instagram account yesterday, promising to "leave America" due to the "powers that be" "[raping] this earth with its lies, protection of wealth, and vicious slayings." Okay, here we go. Best New Song In The World time. Are you ready? Here goes...

As reported earlier this month, fuzzy alternative rock legends Dinosaur Jr. have a new record called I Bet On Sky dropping September 18 via Jagjaguarwar. "I guess on this record, I wasn't as worried if we could play the songs live," J Mascis recently told Rolling Stone, "I guess that's what's kind of different about this album: I just did what I felt would sound good."

They've got first dibs on "Watch The Corners," our first preview taste of the new album. Give it a listen right here.

First thoughts?

Off the bat, love how thick and heavy the guitars sound versus how gentle and endearing Mascis' lead vocal is. It sounds a bit more melodic than anything on Beyond or Farm… no complaints here. It's got a great chorus hook, thick and sludgy riffs to spare and even a cool Black Sabbath-inspired acoustic breakdown towards the middle. Best part? That searing, out of control extended guitar solo freak-out at the end. Mmm.
