The legacy of Isiah Thomas lives on. The New York Knicks didn't have a proverbial horse in the NBA Draft race, but that didn't stop them from showing up at the draft to wait for the all-important 48th pick, when they would have the opportunity to, oh, I don't know, take a guard? Maybe?
Since you can never expect to do the right thing (even though the second round is a total crapshoot), New York opted for 6'8" Greek forward Kostas Papanikolaou. Knicks fans were not pleased, to say the least.
In a great display of American exceptionalism, a vociferous outcry of boos erupted when the pick was announced. If you're going to waste a second-round pick, at LEAST waste it on an American! Fran Fraschilla tried to calm the crowd by telling them that Kostas Papanikolaou is a good player who needs to work on his jumper (as a highlight reel of made jumpers played), but he won't be in New York for a couple of years.
Hilarious. The Knicks continue to go nowhere fast. At least their fans are funny.
