Green Day surprised exactly no one this afternoon by following the previously released trailers for ¡Uno! And ¡Dos! With… drum roll… wait for it… a trailer for ¡Tre!, the final installment in their three-album gargantuan vomiting of new music that hits stores and playlists on September 25, November 13 and January 15, 2013, respectively.
With the two previous trailers and Billie Joe Armstrong's promise of an "AC/DC meets early Beatles" sound, there's been a lot of speculating over what we can expect to hear on the new albums. Well, if the ¡Tre! trailer is any indication, there will be at least some moments of old school Green Day pop-punk classicism. Check it out below.
Holy Michael Mayer, it actually sounds like "real" Green Day music, right? I love the whole "they're so totally doing Foxboro Hot Tubs all over again, dude" direction they're very clearly heading, but it will be great to have at least a couple songs that throw back to the band's early (or, you know, at least pre-Broadway) sound. I'll admit, I was a little worried there that we'd be getting three albums and 1.5 albums worth of great new music, but I wouldn't count Green Day out just yet. With any luck, those album covers will be the only lame thing about ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! And ¡Tre!.
