Gabriel is loving Watch This: Miami Marlins Trailer For Showtime's 'The Franchise'
April 30, 2013
Gabriel commented on Giancarlo Stanton Monster Homerun Sunday Versus the Cubs:
“Amazing home run. Few players in baseball can hit that ball so hard and far. Can't wait for Stanton to earn freedom from the glorified AAA team Marlins and play for a real MLB club.”
You've probably seen the astonishing Mike Trout catch from last night. If you haven't do yourself the favor (video below). If you have, do yourself the favor of watching it again, and again.
Watching this catch, watching Mike Trout play baseball, watching him react to himself playing baseball, I can't help but think: Ken Griffey, Jr.
Maybe the best part of Trout's catch - as amazing as it is- is his reaction after it. He can't quite believe what he's just done, and he's just so damn proud of himself.
After he makes the grab and lands back down on the earth, he flips the ball one time in his glove, almost as if to check and make sure that it's actually there. The catch, the reaction, the whole scene is so similar to a certain Ken Griffey catch, which I will show you, that it's almost spooky.
But first, let's watch Trout:
That was great, wasn't it?
Next, let's watch this Griffey catch, appearing at the :50 second mark of this video. Note the leap, the catch, the ball flip, the golden smile. And then we'll look at a screen shot series of the Mike Trout catch and call it a day.
Remarkable stuff. Here's Trout, frame-by-frame. Be amazed.
