In the true spirit of Gonzo journalism, I wrote a draft of this news post earlier this morning, trashed it, then started over again later in the afternoon. So here's my second attempt…
Snow Patrol fans expecting a swift follow-up to last year's Fallen Empires will be waiting a little longer than originally expected. According to the NME, frontman Gary Lightbody has scrapped an entire collection of new songs after finally overcoming a debilitating case of writer's block. Or, you know, something like that.

"We recorded a second album during the Fallen Empires session. But we've scrapped that one now," says Lightbody. "The songs I've been writing recently are light years away from anything I've ever done. It's mind-boggling stuff."
That's right, "mind-boggling." Mind-boggling enough to make a real dent on this side of the pond, though?
"I won't be happy though until we're huge in America, in fact, until we're huge all round the world," he adds. "I'm never satisfied with what I've been given. I'm greatly honored and blessed with everything we have, but I want to be playing in huge stadiums around the world. I'm always striving to make the best album. I don't want to settle for anything less."
There you have it. I feel like my second attempt at this story is a little less than mind-boggling. Will have to investigate further and get back to you. In the meantime, leave all your thoughts on Snow Patrol and Fallen Empires in our comments section below.
