As Queen of the High Street, Kate Middleton may be the ultimate outfit recycler, but the 30-year-old Princess must be racking up more of those nude LK Bennett heels than we previously thought.
For some reason unbeknownst to me, Prince Charles has agreed to pay for any dresses Kate Middleton wears for "work-related" functions and engagements, so he's keeping a close eye on Kate Middleton's spending habits. Over the past year, the new Duchess of Cambridge has spent an alleged $54,438 on clothes, which is just below the Prince William's $68K public salary as a search-and-rescue pilot, according to the Daily Mail. Maybe Kate should start accepting the some-hundred free garments sent to her each month...

Prince Charles funds his own clothing expenses, as well as his that of Camilla "through the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate of land and property holdings which last year provided him a bumper pay pot of £19.7 million.His official expenditure – out of which will come Kate’s clothing allowance - amounted to £11.4 million of that."
My god, that's a shit ton of cash. I know I (as well as Nicholas Kirkwood) have thrown quite a bit of criticism Kate's way for not being princessy enough in her outfit choices, but she spends nearly double my salary on her closet alone. If I were spending upwards of $55K on clothes, you bet your ass I wouldn't even walk into Zara (sorry!).
"I understand with the way the economy is at the moment that [Kate] feels a needs to be seen in High Street clothes [but] I think people also want to see her in things that are slightly more unattainable," said Stewart parvin, the Queen's favorite couturier. "She can’t go walking into a function and bump into a woman wearing exactly the thing. People want the Royal Family to be slightly unreachable, it’s part of the magic they have.Princess Diana always wore couture clothes and it will become the norm for Kate as time goes on."
I can't imagine what Kate Middleton's clothing budget will be when she wears couture to nearly every event.
