Listen Up: "Guild" By Earl Sweatshirt Feat. Mac Miller

We've been hearing this latest single from Earl Sweatshirt's upcoming debut album (proper debut, anyway) Doris for a while now in some of his live performances, and while details about when the album is going to drop are sparse, it seems he figured it worthwhile to release the official version of the song so we've got something. On the track, titled "Guild," we find Earl taking a bit more of a note from Tyler the Creator's book, inviting Mac Miller on to work a few octaves down on a low-key abstract randomblackdude beat; for my tastes, it's not doing too much, but I'm not a massive fan of the pair either, so, you know, take things on your own. We've gotten "Whoa," "Chum" and now "Guild," so when the hell is this LP going to surface? Summer has always been the reported season, and we're just about there now, so hopefully we'll get some word shortly.

Watch This: Earl Sweatshirt And RZA Preview New Track At Syracuse

Well, I don't really know what's going on with Doris, but Earl's "Chum" and "Whoa" have certainly managed to stay in rotation while we're waiting for a release date, and to tag on some new content, Earl decided to preview a new RZA-featured track (untitled, as of now), while performing at Syracuse a moment ago. As you would assume, Earl Sweatshirt's winding lyrics are as serpentine as ever, and the RZA action is as prime as could be. Though it's your basic iPhone recording, you can still catch a decent idea of what the track is going to sound like--somewhere between a chiller and heater, at least to me--and the hook, "I'm going to f*ck the freckles off your face," promises that this new track is going to be exactly what we saw on Earl way back when. Frank pretty much let loose the full feature list from his upcoming album Channel Orange yesterday (in case you missed it, John Mayer, Three Stacks and Earl Sweatshirt are set for respective cameos), and with nothing else to really lose--save for a leak--before the July 17 release date, the croonster decided to go ahead and drop the full tracklist overnight.

The debut album will mark Frank's first "official" work under Def Jam, and holds down a strong seventeen tracks, which means we should have plenty to hold us over until The Weeknd releases an album and makes everyone else look like child's play once again.

Here's a photo of the official tracklist. There are some interesting titles, but, then again, Frank's a pretty interesting guy in terms of mentality. I doubt the track "Forrest Gump" actually has anything to do with the mentally-challenged slice of Americana, but who knows.
