“when will we get to the point when people just don't care about this issue. let them do what they want in their private lives. who are they harming. who cares who they love -- this is just a sad aspect of American culture.”
How would you like to be Peyton Manning's quarterbacks coach? It's a job I've often thought about applying for, but decided first I wanted to give Warren Buffet a few lessons in wealth building, and give Mitt Romney some pointers on how to be an empty suit politician with no personality.
Denver Broncos QB coach Adam Gase is plunging headlong into the job, however, and it sounds like he's really enjoying having Peyton Manning as a mentor. Gase is two years younger than Manning, and has never played collegiate or professional football. But he did give an interview to the Broncos official website about what a pleasure it is to work with Manning.
"Any player that’s been in the league multiple years, especially when you get in double digits in years, they’ve seen so much stuff playing the game," said Gase, who has never played collegiate or pro football. "It doesn’t matter who you are, they’re going to bring something up that you’ve never even seen that’s happened to them in the past. Anytime you’re around a guy, whether it’s a coach or a player, that’s been in the league 10-plus years, they’re going to have a lot of knowledge about what’s going on."
But surely Gase and Manning are working together to hammer out the inter-workings of the offense. There must be some give-and-take there, right?
"Anytime you can talk football with a player that’s been around as long as he has and a player that’s done what he has in the league, it’s very interesting," Gase said in an interview with the Broncos official site. "The NFL is universal as far as play-wise, but it’s interesting to hear how he’s done things in the past or how he’s been coached to do certain things. Sometimes you get a different perspective of how to look at a certain play. That’s an interesting facet to working with a guy with his experience and his knowledge of the game."
