Ryan Leaf Really Hates Himself

Jonathan Wasserman
6

"I'm lazy, and dishonest and selfish. These were behaviors I had before my addiction kicked in." ~ Not a standup comic

This has to be one of the quotes of the year. This quote actually preceeded this one:

"Five to 10 years of Ryan-free drama for my family, this community — particularly for this nation — would be pure bliss for people."

And this came after a judge ruled that he wouldn't be going to prison.

Times have been tough for arguably the biggest draft bust in NFL history. Leaf has had a notorious addiction to painkillers, and has been arrested on multiple occasions for burglary. When he wasn't popping them, he was looking for more.

The picture above needs to be entered in one of those "Great Images of 2012" slideshows. It's a photo worth a thousand words.

While it seems inhumane to laugh at Ryan Leaf's downfall, it would be irresponsible not to. You can't just rob maaaaad pharmacies for pills, continue getting caught, call yourself lazy, dishonest and selfish, say it would be pure bliss for people if you disappeared for five to 10 years- and expect NOT to get laughed at. Especially when you're Ryan Leaf. If people were laughing at him before, you can bet your ass this won't stop the bleeding.

What do you think? Do you think the judge made the right decision by keeping him out of jail and forcing him to get help? How about combining the two options, and have him seek help while in prison. Both seem beneficial.

Or force an NFL team to sign him. I'd watch that reality show.
