Great piece from the Daily Show. My favorite jokes were:- "If you follow the world of sports and/or homosexuality"- Jon going nerdy with three gay wizards: Ian McKellen, Dumbledore and Jason Collins- Video cut getting Obama to say: "[Speaking for Jason] I'm still 7 foot tall and can bang with Shaq."- Jon Stewart and Jason Jones longing for the ability to make Linsanity-like puns that ended with GESPY (Gay-ESPY). In general, I found this a good piece in that it is propelled by an intellectual point (of how a non-flashy coming out is still important and impressibe) with a little light humor around it.

JR Smith Sues Chinese Team That Fined Him One Million Dollars For Missing 80 Practices

“We were delighted to terminate our agreement with J.R. Smith early on in the season but was asked not to by the agent involved because it would jeopardize the image of the player for NBA purposes.’’

WE WERE DELIGHTED TO TERMINATE. I love that.

The Chinese team that JR Smith played for during the lockout docked him one-million dollars, claiming that he missed 80 practices! 80. That is hilarious. And now Smith is suing them, disputing the fact that he missed that many.

What's even funnier is that Smith averaged 36 points per game, while his sister was choking fans out in the stands.

Recap of the facts:

1. Chinese team was delighted to terminate his contract early, but Smith's agent turns it down.

2. Chinese team docks Smith one million of his 2.88 million dollar salary, claiming he missed 80 practices.

3. Chinese team wants Smith's sister sent back to the U.S. for choking fans in the stands.

4. JR Smith averaged 36 points per game, playing in all 32 contests.

4. Repeat, JR Smith averaged 36 points per game.

5. JR Smith is suing the team to reclaim his lost money.

You decide who is right and who is wrong. I don't really care either way. It's just a great mix of absurd information.

Anthony Schneck: JR Smith doesn't seem like the sort of guy who would miss practice, except he's EXACTLY the sort of guy who would miss practice. Also, do we know how many practices he's claiming to have missed? Is it like, "I didn't miss 80 practices! I missed 50!"? Finally, why were there 80 practices for 32 games? Seems like he had a right to miss them.
