While the venerable Sarah Burton is busy collecting much-deserved accolades, McQueen has unveiled a series of changes, including a new softer version of retail interiors. CEO Jonathan Akeroyd said the goal of the shift it to be known as "the best British luxury ready-to-wear-brand." He added:
“The last two years have been something that I think most brands haven’t gone through in their lifetime. It’s been a very hectic time. We had a strong momentum going by late 2008, early 2009 when Lee was with us. With Lee’s passing we had a year of transition — and it went far better than we expected. We were so fortunate to have Sarah take over — it was almost seamless. It was a sad moment, but positive as well. We then planned to continue the momentum that we were experiencing when Lee was with us. Through all of the sadness of Lee’s passing we all felt that he’d left us with so much. We saw opportunity through the sadness,” said Akeroyd. “Sarah should take a lot of the credit for the speed with which things have moved on. Our fortune was in having such an incredible successor to Lee.” [WWD]
Emma Stone debuted a hat trick of covers this week, with the latest being her Teen Vogue spot alongside real-life boytoy Andrew Garfield. Here's what he had to say about Emma for the mag's August issue:
"It was like I woke up when she came in. She was the last person to screen-test, and I was so bored of it by then that I was mucking about—I'd been pretending I was Tom Hanks or Seth Rogen. And then she came in, and it was like diving into white-water rapids and having no desire to hang on to the side. Throughout shooting, it was wild and exciting. I couldn't help but try to stay with her, keep pace with her, and not let her get away. [Laughs] Like an animal preying on a smaller animal, but a wily smaller animal." [TeenVogue]
