Gabriel commented on Giancarlo Stanton Monster Homerun Sunday Versus the Cubs:
“Amazing home run. Few players in baseball can hit that ball so hard and far. Can't wait for Stanton to earn freedom from the glorified AAA team Marlins and play for a real MLB club.”
In the Texas Rangers game against the Padres Monday night, Rangers TV announcer suddenly started speaking in gibberish, leading many worried fans to believe he had had a stroke on the air (video below). Barnett is taking a few days off, and the Rangers released a statement saying that Barnett believes the episode was the result of symtoms from migraine headaches.
"The tying run is at fifth..." Barnett started out suddenly, before pausing with dead air. "On what Adams insists on calling botched robbery... what actually happened is his henchmen."
Barnett's voice and speech rhythms don't change, but the words stop making any sense. We can all admit to ourselves that it's really hard to watch/listen to this without laughing - because it's hilarious - but we all hope that Dave Barnett is o.k.
A similar on-air incident happened to CBS reporter Serene Branso at the Grammy's last year. Branso's speech descended into pure gibberish more so than Barnett. Branso couldn't form actual words as Barnett did. She also blamed the problems on migraines.
