So, um, remember that new charity single "Early In The Morning" that Yoko Ono and Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore released online yesterday? The one you definitely downloaded legally to help support the victims of last year's Japanese tsunami devastation? Well, turns out their three-way (don't get saucy, now) collaboration wasn't any ordinary one-off—the three art-rock heroes have announced the release of new album YOKOKIMTHURSTON, out September 25 in the U.S. via Chimera Music.

See? Kim and Thurston maybe hate each other's guts, but this more or less proves they're still willing to make music together. Maybe the future of Sonic Youth isn't quite as bleak as we'd thought…
Details are still pretty scarce, but that's the stark, spooky album artwork above and we've got the track list below. Take a look.
01. "I Missed You Listening"
02. "Running The Risk"
03. "I Never Told You, Did I?"
04. "Mirror Mirror"
05. "Let's Get There"
06. "Early In The Morning"
Now, I've been wrong about this sort of thing before, but judging from the succinct number of songs and the fact that Yoko Ono is involved, it's safe to say that YOKOKIMTHURSTON won't please the casual "Kool Thing" crowd. Expect a lot of noisy, extended jamming, wonky poetry and vocal hissing, howling, gnarling and yelling. (i.e. everything you'd want from a great rock 'n' roll record, right? Um, right??)
