Dimensions of creepy are opening up all over Rosewood: Jenna can see, Mona’s still insane, Lucas is hiding something and setting fires, Melissa’s back in town and she’s not pregnant, Veronica Hastings is indeed defending Garrett Reynolds and for some reason she really wants to believe he’s innocent, and Ella Montgomery is changing exam grades.
You’d think that Hanna has enough on her plate with Mona being the old “A” and all, but now she also has to deal with Lucas. He’s totally suspicious, and he’s looking a little rough around the edges. Caleb even confronts him about almost setting fire to his girlfriend, and Lucas starts rambling about how the "Mona is A" story is only the tip of the iceberg. Oh, and he was definitely at Radley visiting Mona. To be honest, Lucas should have just checked himself in for a day or so. He’s been a little crazy lately.
Speaking of Mona, she’s talking now. However, she’s not really telling Hanna what she wants to hear. Rather than spilling her guts about the new “A,” Mona’s talking about water, her mouth being dry, and about whether or not Alison’s body parts are still missing. (Awkward.) Caleb isn’t very happy that Hanna keeps visiting her, so he pays Mona a little visit. He knows she’s playing games, and after telling Caleb that he’s a lousy kisser, Mona flips a table and goes completely mad. After calming down, she’s back in her room, singing (beautifully, might I add) and creepily holding a Queen of Hearts playing card. Janel Parrish kills it in this episode. Anyone who is mad or questioning the fact that Mona was “A,” this episode is for you. Had Mona not been “A,” we wouldn’t have gotten to see these brilliant crazy-Mona scenes. Writers and producers who collaborated and decided to follow through with Mona as “A,” I thank you.

In the midst of all the other drama in Rosewood, there’s this whole confronting triangle between Emily, Ella and Ezra. Emily receives a 94 on her test without even completing it, so she speaks with Ms. Montgomery who basically admits that she finished the test for her. So Ezra confronts Ella and they have a teacher bonding moment. After the principal receives an anonymous letter from a student about Ms. Montgomery possibly showing favoritism, Emily shows up willing to take the heat. Then Ezra talks to the principal, admitting that he watched Ella grade Emily’s test, so there was no favoritism being shown. Shortly after, Ella corners Mr. Fitz wondering why he would lie for Emily as well. He takes a walk down memory lane, remembering that they used to be friends before she took the motherly-defensive role since he’s now dating Aria. Finally, Emily talks with Mr. Fitz, and he allows her to take a different test from the same course. The end.
Back at the Hastings home, lies are flying around left and right. Veronica comes clean to her daughters (yes, Melissa is back in town, and she’s not so pregnant anymore) about defending Garrett Reynolds FOR FREE, and Spencer thinks that Melissa convinced her to do so. Also, the liars begin to question whose medical records Garrett was speaking of – Jenna’s or maybe… Melissa’s? Maybe Garrett is the father of Melissa’s baby, and that’s why Veronica took Garrett’s case. So Spencer calls the hospital pretending to be her sister, asking for medical records for the insurance company. However, there are no medical records to be found. Melissa and her mother checked into the resort/spa instead of the hospital. Melissa was faking being pregnant, but for how long?
Aria Montgomery has a new mission: befriend Jenna Marshall. This could give the liars the leverage they’ve been looking for – and boy, does it. While practicing for a school assembly, Aria notices that Jenna has something about earplugs at 4:15 written on a piece of paper. So obviously, the girls investigate. They follow Jenna to a gun shop, and you know things are just way out of hand when Hanna Marin starts speaking Spanish. Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the girls confront Jenna. Oddly enough, she has no problem describing the events of ‘that night.’ However, everything really isn’t what it seems. The night someone dug up Alison's grave, Jenna stumbled upon Emily and she tried to take her home, but Emily jumped out of the car. According to not-so-blind Jenna, she’s been using her blindness as protection because she’s “still a target.” Looks like the girls and Jenna may have something in common after all. She plans to keep up her blind act, and Jenna even asks the liars to keep it a secret. They owe her, don’t they…?
SumOlogy: The liars and Jenna share a secret, and Melissa Hastings is more suspicious than ever.
Grade: A
Leftovers:
“We should push a table in front of her and see what happens.” -Hanna
“Don’t go all Spencer on your grades” (I’m so glad this show has started using “Spencer” as a verb. I do it all the time.)
“It's better for a lot of people if Mona stays crazy.” -Lucas
Tammin Sursok is A-mazing in this episode. And I kind of believe Jenna…
“Mom, Melissa wouldn’t tell me if my hair was on fire!” –Spencer
And for your once-an-episode bitch phrase: “Witnesses can be a bitch.” -Hanna
Was the new “A” freezing a body?!
