Gabriel commented on AMAs 2012: The Winners (And Why Everyone Is Talking About MC Hammer Again):
“While I think most music award shows' results reflect my personal music taste, I think at least the VMAs and the Grammys do a better job with the production value for the evening in general (particularly with the VMA musical preformances).”

Sharon commented on AMAs 2012: The Winners (And Why Everyone Is Talking About MC Hammer Again):
“I see. I thought you were just hating on popular artists because they are popular. I agree that the AMA's are a joke award show though. Some of the nominees weren't even American lol. But yeah, I think most award shows are a joke.”

J commented on AMAs 2012: The Winners (And Why Everyone Is Talking About MC Hammer Again):
“I know. This awards show is just for "popular" artists. Nothing's wrong with "popular," but to have a title like "American Music Awards" is a bit misleading...it should go the route of "The People's Choice Awards." The show isn't at all encompassing of American music. It's more like a reunion of the radio-friendly artists (which ultimately is determined by record execs and a backwards radio system in the first place). There are no surprises at this awards show, except when an artist like N. Minaj wins best rap album for something universally decried as crap. Then you realize the whole show is a circle jerk (pardon my language, haha). Radio says "you will listen to THESE 10 artists," the public then listens to THOSE 10 artists, then the AMAs comes along and asks the public to vote on their favorite music...it's purely promotion for these already favored artists, at this point. In other words, it's just a TV version of what they allow us listeners to hear on radio. Key word = allow. So, I have nothing against the artists, their talent, or their grind. The AMAs, however, just perpetuates the notion that American music consist of JUST these artists, by broadcasting on TV the lie that "an informed" listening public scoured all the music that's out there and chose the best of the best. These artists aren't the best. They're just the most played at the moment.”
