I find it extremely hard to believe that Radiohead would have knowing or unknowingly contributed to the accidental death of drum tech Scott Johnson, killed under an outdoor stage collapse before the band's scheduled concert at Toronto's Downsview Park last weekend. Nevertheless, their touring company, Ticker Tape Touring LLP, have been asked to cooperate with the Canadian Ministry of Labour's investigation into the stage collapse.

Rolling Stone reports that the Ministry have named four companies—Ticker Tape, promoter Live Nation, Optex Staging and Services and Nasco Staffing Solutions—as being partly responsible for the incident, which also injured three others. According to Ministry spokesman Matt Blajer, however, most of the responsibility is currently being attributed to Live Nation.
"We’re still trying to figure out who owns what, who’s responsible for what," Blajer tells the Toronto Star. "You’ve got lighting technicians, sound technicians, the band’s people — we’re trying to figure out who worked for whom."
None of the four companies have issued an official response thus far, though Radiohead drummer Philip Selway did release the following statement regarding Johnson's death:
We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott's family and all those close to him.
We'll be sure to keep you up to date with any new details as they're announced.
