College basketball's regular season is now over, and SportsOlogy is highlighting all of the college basketball tournaments that matter; today we preview the ACC tournament, which begins Thursday, March 8. At the risk of offending the BCS, we think tournaments are pretty cool. The ACC used to be the nation’s top basketball conference, not just because of its history but also because of the top-to-bottom talent of its teams. These days, though, the ACC is a two-team league, with Duke and North Carolina battling for supremacy every year. Maryland has fallen off the map, Wake Forest hasn’t been the same program since Skip Prosser’s death, and the rest of the schools have failed to step up their games in the power vaccuum that has resulted. The ACC might tip over soon, it’s so top- heavy.
