Throughout human history, art has been used as a tool in
order to provoke emotion and response from the masses which might view it. It
has been used to promote the power and splendor of a ruling family, invading
dynasty and/or cleanse the masses of their heretical beliefs. Art has been the
ultimate gesture in humankind history when one wishes to court another’s
attention. The expression of art in human history could be linked to an
extension of our reptilian brains and our naturalistic instinct to show off our
skills or our best gestures in order to bring a mate into the fold. It’s
certainly expressed in nature in the plumage of peacocks and tropical birds,
