Check out Ryan Adams' lush, acoustic take on a hair metal classic.
Thinks we know about Ryan Adams: 1.) he loves trashy '80s metal bands, and 2.) he loves turning our favorite songs into gorgeously intimate, painfully beautiful acoustic folk masterpieces. That said, it should come as little or no surprise that the extra-prolific singer/songwriter (whose latest album Ashes & Fire has garnered some of the best reviews of his career) pulled out a cover of Ratt's 1984 glam metal classic "Round And Round" during a recent NPR Weekend Edition studio performance.

I clearly just hadn't realized it before today... but "Round And Round" is secretly kind of a fantastic song. I wouldn't have expected anything less from Ryan Adams, but he's really outdone himself here— his version is genuinely moving to the point that you quickly forget that he's covering one of the most ridiculous songs of the '80s. Major hats off, Mr. Adams—you continue to wow and amaze. (Is it bad that I kind of prefer this to almost everything on Ashes & Fire? Probably should've kept that last bit to myself...)
