The Game samples Castanets' "You Are The Blood"

Cover of 'Brake Lights' mixtape. Obviously The Game likes red.

We're still waiting for The Game's fourth studio album, The R.E.D. Album. Since the last proposed release date (August 24) has passed, Game has announced that the album release will be delayed indefinitely. He says he does not want to release it until he has a huge hit single to the level of "How We Do" or "Hate It Or Love It."

Anyway, until that happens, Game has continued to record tracks and put out mixtapes. His last mixtape Brake Lights, "hosted" by DJ Skee, has a bunch of filler tracks and a few good ones. Case in point: "You Are The Blood."

This song samples Castanets, a psychedelic funk band from San Diego, and it caught my eye for two reasons:
1) Does The Game know who Castanets are? When did he find the time to stop drinking 40s, smoking blunts, recording tracks, and tweeting at Kat Stacks to listen to indie psychedelic funk?
2) The song sounds amazing.

Ever since Brake Lights was released in early August, the song has been in my head non-stop. Just listen to it. Here's the original by Castanets and Sufjan Stevens' cover of "You Are The Blood."
