I know, I know, Brad Pitt's unmatched manly masculinity knows no bounds (even Jon Hamm admits to falling short), but this is goddamn ridiculous. The 48-year-old actor and soon-to-be-husband of Angelina Jolie's Right Leg, has signed on as the new face of Chanel No. 5. Yes, the it's the fashion house's signature scent, and yes, it happens to be a woman's scent, but hey, no judgement. This isn't weird at all.
Though it seems nobody from Chanel or Pitt's camp has confirmed the rumors, E! Online reports that he'll shoot his first perfume ad in London at some point this week - a spot that he'll earn a seven-figure salary for - as preparation for No. 5's overseas campaign launch. Of course, this isn't the first time a guy has been cast as the lead in a women's fragrance deal - just two months ago, it was confirmed that androgynous male model Andrej Pejic made history when he signed on to front Jean Paul Gaultier's scent, Kokorico. Former faces of Chanel No. 5 include Nicole Kidman and French beauty Audrey Tautou.
I'd ask why they didn't just pick Angelina, but I'd totally rather buy a perfume endorsed by Brad.
