Kim Gordon Reveals Battle With Breast Cancer In New Interview
Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon has kept on the quiet side since her potentially band-ending split with Thurston Moore, but in a new interview with Elle (of all places), Gordon not only dishes on what the hell happened to indie rock's premier married couple (spoiler alert: Thurston's a cheater), she revealed that she also recently suffered a brush with breast cancer. Follow Sonic Youth on Ology for all the latest news, reviews, leaks, rumors, videos, tour dates, features, fan events and more "I'm fine," Kim tells Elle...

Sonic Youth

Earlier this summer, Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo promised (see below) that although the band are definitely "done for a while," they're keeping busy cleaning out the archives with a slew of planned reissues and live releases. As announced earlier this morning, the first of hopefully many new releases will be a live recording of the band's August 11, 1985 concert at Chicago's Smart Bar, fully remixed and mastered from the original 4-track cassette tape source.

Featuring then-new drummer Steve Shelley (maybe you've heard of him), the set featured a slew of then-new songs from then-new album Bad Moon Rising, early incarnations of EVOL tracks "Secret Girl" and "Expressway To Yr Skull" and a previously unavailable live version of "Kat 'N' Hat." Check out the confirmed Smart Bar – Chicago 1985 tracklisting below.

"Hallowe'en"
"Death Valley '69"
"Intro/Brave Men Run (In My Family)"
"I Love Her All The Time"
"Ghost Bitch"
"I'm Insane"
"Kat 'N' Hat"
"Brother James"
"Kill Yr Idols"
"Secret Girl"
"Flower"
"The Burning Spear"
"Expressway To Yr Skull"
"Making The Nature Scene"
