Who knew acting could be such a dangerous job sometimes? Throughout the years, we’ve learned that the price of celebrity sometimes comes with pain. Check out our list of actors that have come out of film sets with bruises and scars!
1. Halle Berry: Halle is the most recently to suffer an injury on set. The actress was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night in Los Angeles after hitting her head on the concrete while filming The Hive. Although she was rushed to the hospital, TMZ reported that the actress was in stable condition. (Halle also suffered a fractured arm while filming the horror flick Gothika in 2003). Update: Halle has been released from the hospital and is doing fine.
2. Kristin Chenoweth: The singer/actress was hit in the head by scaffolding on the Brooklyn set of The Good Wife last week and later rushed to the hospital. No worries though: Kristin was soon released from the hospital and has been recovering at home for a few days. Must have hurt, especially because she’s so pint-sized!
3. Brad Pitt: The hunky actor tore his Achilles’ tendon while filming a fight scene for Troy in 2004. Because the injury was so extensive, Pitt wasn’t able to finish filming the scene until three months after the injury. We know Brad is tough, but that must have been very painful!
4. Cate Blanchett: The Australian was seriously injured during a performance of A Streetcar Named Desire at the Sydney Theater Company last year. The dramatic actress was struck in the head by a 60s style radio during a fight scene and reportedly had blood dripping down her face. Although she tried to finish the performance, the show was canceled because the injury was more serious than she had thought.
5. Hilary Swank: While filming a strip tease scene for the 2006 romantic comedy P.S. I Love You, co-star Gerard Butler’s suspender snapped and hit Hilary in the face. Swank ultimately ended up needing three stitches on her forehead. At least the injury came about in a comical way?
6. Julianne Hough: Although she’s been dancing her entire life, the Rock of Ages star suffered a few broken ribs while filming intensive dance scenes for this summer’s film, some of which involved a pole. She also said she had banged her head repeatedly on a metal fence while filming a scene… and that’s when you call “cut!”
7. Shia LaBeouf: Shia and his Transformers 2 costar Isabel Lucas got into a car accident while filming the intense action film. Shia came out of the crash with serious injuries: he was in surgery for four hours after crushing his arm in the accident. Oh, and the car even flipped over! Luckily both were able to continue filming.
8. Kristen Stewart: Though her exact injury is still unknown, the actress was spotted sporting a cast throughout February 2011 while filming the final installment of Breaking Dawn. She is also rumored to have suffered some minor injuries from filming this year’s Snow White and the Huntsman. Maybe she should just do a romantic comedy next to avoid the risk!
9. Nicole Kidman: The Aussie actress and seven other costars were involved in a car crash on the 2007 set of The Invasion, but luckily walked away without major injuries. Kidman also tore ligaments in her knee and broke a few ribs while filming Moulin Rouge in 2001, which sounds anything but fun. Corsets are never a good idea!
10. Justin Timberlake: While filming his Sci Fi thriller In Time with actress Amanda Seyfried, the actor seriously injured his ankle. Although he tried to continue filming, the shoot was called off in order for Justin to have time to recover. It’s always a risky move when a pop star turned actor tries to do his own stunts!
